Rama IX  is possibly the only monarch holding patents.  He was granted one in 1993 for a waste water aerator named "Chai Pattana".  He has also been awarded several patents for rainmaking since 1955:  The so-called "sandwich" rainmaking patent in 1999 and the "supersandwich" patent in 2003.  He was granted European Patent  # 1491088  on October 12, 2005 for "Royal Rainmaking Technology".
